The book I am currently reading is called Thirteen Reasons Why. In this novel, I believe I am least like Hannah. I like to be around people, where she likes to be by herself most of the time. I am very happy with my life and she was so unhappy that she decided to end hers. Hannah didn't tell the people that treated her wrong how she felt. I am very different than that. I like to let people know how I feel and I also like to show people my feelings when I am upset. I like to work things out with people instead of hiding what I feel.

What character are you most like?
I feel like I am mostly like Clay. He gets along with everybody like I do. I believe I am a friendly and sociable person. I always try to listen to people when they need somebody to help them. I like being there for people when they need to vent to somebody. Although I am nice to people, I do not feel like I go out of my way to make others happy. But I do my best to cheer people up when they are down and help them with their problems. If somebody asks me for help, I will be glad to help them.
What are three big questions you have at this time?
One of my questions is, did Hannah try to reach out to somebody before she killed herself? Why didn't she tell people the truth about the way she was? Why didn't she try to work out her problems instead of leaving them behind? I think if Hannah was really having a hard time living the life she was, she could have reached out to somebody she was close to and asked for advice. I do not think the right thing for her to do was to kill herself.
What is the authors message?
I believe in the novel Thirteen Reasons Why, the authors message is, Do not outcast others just because they are different. When people treat Hannah like she is nothing, like she is insignificant, it makes her want to kill herself. We should all treat others as equals. No more and no less. If everybody treated others with respect and dignity, then there would be no suicidal thoughts or actions. Basically follow the golden rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated. We should all think about what it would be like to be that person before we cast them out and seclude ourselves from them. We need to be understanding and forgiving people.
If you could change something that has happened in this story so far, what would it be?
If I could change something that happened in Thirteen Reasons Why, it would not have Hannah kill herself. Then all of the things that have happened would be prevented. I would change the way that she made the tapes to show how people influenced her to kill herself. Now that she blamed the people for killing herself, they will feel they are at fault. They will probably blame themselves for her dying. Instead of having her do that, I would have her go to the people and tell them how she feels. That way she is telling them in person so they can change how they treat her. They would apologize for all of the times that they have wronged her and move on with their lives.
Describe the main character in detail. Include physical, emotional and personality details.
The novel that I am currently reading is called Thirteen Reasons Why. The main character in this book is Clay Jensen. He is a normal teen that is in high school. He is a nice boy. He gets along with everybody and treats everybody with respect. Although he is considered a popular kid at school, he is sociable with everybody. Although he is nice, he doesn't go out of his way to make others happy. He just kind of keeps to himself. When Clay gets tapes in the mail and discovers they are from a girl named Hannah, who recently killed herself, he becomes nervous. He wants to find out everything that made her decide to commit suicide. He becomes desperate in putting together the pieces of her broken life. He will not rest until he finds the reason why she made the tapes and sent them to him.

Would you have liked to have grown up with the main character? Why or why not?
I am currently reading A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer. This book is about the troubles he went through as a young boy. He is brutally beaten and punished from his mother every single day.
Even though all of this occurs, I still think I would have liked to grow up with him. Not because I think he had a good childhood, but because I might have the chance to help him. I would have told the teachers at school about what his mother was really doing to him. That way I could get evidence for the authorities to know what is really going on. That way maybe David would have a chance to leave the environment that he lived in and find a truly happy family he could have a real childhood with.

Would you choose the main character to be your friend
In my book To Kill A Mockingbird Scout Finch is the main character. I think I would choose to have her be my friend. She is a very curious little girl. Although she gets into trouble very often, she seems like she would be a fun person to hang out with. She has a very big imagination which would make things more fun and exciting. She also is very brave and stands up for what she believes in. She is very loyal to her family will do anything to defend them. I believe these are all very good traits for a friend to have.

Explain what the main character's most pressing problem is at this time
The main character, Scout, is a curious little girl. She is always getting into some sort of trouble. Her and her brother Jem, have a plan that they will get Boo Radley to come out of the house. Nobody has seen him for many years. He stays in the house at all times and will never come out. Scout and Jem believe that he is a bad crazy person. Although they think this, they still have their mind set on making him come out of the house. This is Scouts main problem throughout the story. They are always trying to devise a plan to make him get out of the house. This often gets Scout and her brother in trouble with Atticus, their father. It creates many conflicts throughout the story.
Explain what you like or don't like about your book so far
The book that I am currently reading is To Kill A Mockingbird. There are a lot of things I enjoy about this novel. I like that it is set in the 1900s. This way, it gives us a feel of what it was like to live in that time period. It shows us what every day life was like for some people. It also shows how African Americans did not have many rights back then. It is sad to think about how they were treated unfairly. It is also interesting to see that they have come a long way in society. I am glad that today there is a lot less discrimination towards people then there was back then. Another thing I like about it is the dialogue. For me it is interesting to see how they talked and the grammar that they used. Sometimes it is a little difficult to understand, but it is a very good book.

How would i solve the problem in the book?
In my book To Kill A Mockingbird, I would solve the problem by sticking up for Tom Robinson. He was accused of raping a woman but it wasn't true. I would convince people that its not right to accuse him just because of the color of his skin. He has just as many rights as we do and we need to treat him with respect and equality. Everybody needs to be treated equally.
How does the setting affect what is happening in this book?
The setting of my book To Kill a Mockingbird is in a small town called Maycomb in the early 1900s. The conflict is that a young black man was accused of raping a white woman. The setting ties into a lot with the story. Since it was around the 1930s African American people did not have many rights. They were not treated fairly, or even paid as much as the average person. Most white people treated them like they were outsiders who did not belong. The better majority of the people who lived in Maycomb were white. So when they heard of this crime, that was not true, they automatically turned against the black man and believed the woman. His case did not stand a chance simply because of the color of his skin. Today is different than back in the 1900s. African American people have just as many rights as we do. We are all treated the same and there isn't as much discrimination towards people of different races.

If i was stranded on an island, which character would i want to take with me?
I am currently reading the book To Kill a Mockingbird. If I was stranded on a deserted island and could take one character with me, I would choose Atticus. He is a very kind man, and always has strategies to working problems out. It seems like in every bad situation, Atticus has a solution. He is very good at problem solving. I would feel safe with him and I would be confident that he would find ways to help us survive and keep us safe. I believe he would be the best character to choose. He also is a very persuasive and intelligent man, which makes him very likeable. I think that we would get along very well together.

What was the most interesting quote from today's reading?
I believe that the most interesting quote from this story is, "Sometimes you make choices in life and sometimes choices make you." I like it because I think a lot of people can relate to it. It means that sometimes we don't have get to choose what happens in our life. Sometimes you cant prevent things and that is just the way it is. Life is unpredictable and there is nothing that we can do about it.
What could I take away from today's reading that could improve my life?
I would take away the message that is in the story. Mia's mother, father and brother are dead. She did not know that when they left the house that they would get into a car accident. This shows that we should cherish the things and people in our lives. We should not take things for granted because something could always happen that will take those things away from you. Sometimes we don't realize how important someone or something is until it is gone. Life is unpredictable at times. This is why we need to care about others and let them know we love them, because someday it may be too late to show how we feel.

What would be one small detail that, if changed, might change the outcome of of the story?
In the book If I Stay, if I could change one small detail, I would make the whole family stay at the house. That way if the family doesn't leave the house, they would not get into the crash that they got into. If they didn't get into the crash Mia's parents would not die, and everything would be alright. They would continue to live out their normal everyday lives.

Would I Want to Read Something Else From This Author?
I believe I would enjoy reading another book from Alice Sebold. I like the way she wrote The Lovely Bones in first person point of view. Her style of writing is very enjoyable. She makes the books exciting to read and leaves you wanting to read more and more. I believe her books are enjoyable for all age groups. She is a very good author and I can't wait to read another of her books.

If I Wanted to Suggest This Story to a Friend I Would say it is Mostly About
If I wanted to suggest this story to a friend I would say it is mostly about Susie's murder investigation and her time spent trying to let her family know she is there. The investigation has been going on for a while now and the cops have not found any new leads. Throughout the book they have no idea were Susie's body is or could be. She is always spending time with her family even though none of them know she is there. She tries to show them signs that she is still with them and is there for everything they do.

A character I really dislike
A character I really dislike is Mr. Harvey. In my opinion, he is a very bad man. He is very sneaky and knows what he is doing when it comes to murdering people. He seems like a nice guy, but in reality, he is a very dark person with a lot of secrets. Without people knowing it, he ruins their life and takes their children away from them.

major conflict
The major conflict in Lovely Bones is that the main character was murdered but nobody can find her body. Her parents and the police have no leads on where she could be and there aren't any suspects. Everybody is very puzzled and her case isn't getting very far. However, nobody knows that her body is underground fairly close to her own house.
